In June 2020, the oldest larch on Olkhon island will be 777 years old. "The Guardian of Olkhon" - so people called the Siberian larch — is already included in the national register of old-growth trees and the register of Baikal rare trees. In the future, the tree may receive the status of a natural monument.
The age of larch was calculated by the participants of two expeditions "Trees-monuments of living nature" and "Tree of Baikal".
