From Arshan to the Olkhon Island

Program of this tour offers you to make an unforgetable journey to sacred places of Eastern Siberia. The unique beauty of the Tunka bald mountains, healing mineral water, charming originality of Buddhist religious traditions will leave a lasting impression, and it is all in the beginning of your trip! Afterwards you will meet the great lake - sacred Baikal, where the land of Shamans begins. Fancy rocks, steppe and quicksand make here an impression of presence of heavenly spirits. The tour will end with the largest open-air museum of railway architecture. You will go by train through tunnels, bridges, viaducts and galleries.

1 day / Tunka Valley

Arrival in Irkutsk. Meeting at the airport or railway station, boarding a regular bus to the village of Arshan. A beautiful road through the Tunka valley with numerous serpentines, steep ascents and descents, passes near the southern tip of the island.Baikal. After three hours of driving, we arrive at the village of Arshan, which is located at the foot of the spurs of the Eastern Sayan, which is called the Siberian Alps. Accommodation in an economy class hotel. Walk through the village. Visit to the market of Mongolian goods, medicinal herbs and pine nuts. Tasting of medicinal mineral water, thanks to which Arshan has become quite widely known.

Day 2 / Arshan

After breakfast, you can visit the Datsan "Bodhidharma" - a Buddhist temple during the morning prayer service, the canyon of the Kyngarga River (translated from Buryat "shaman's tambourine"), known for its waterfalls.Take a short trek deep into the river canyon to the waterfalls. In general, there are about 12 small waterfalls on the river, all of them are located above the first one and you can approach them along the 11-kilometer path along the Kyngarga. The first and most visited of the waterfalls is located at a distance of 1.5 kilometers. Have lunch in one of the many cafes of Buryat cuisine. On the menu: Buryat poses with three types of meat, booze, as well as aromatic salty tea with herbs and oil. In the evening, return to Irkutsk by minibus.

Day 3 / Olkhon Island

Breakfast. Departure to Olkhon island by minibus. The trip to the island takes about 6 hours. Lunch at a roadside cafe.Crossing the Olkhonsky Vorota Strait by ferry. Olkhon Island is the geographical, historical and sacred center of Lake Baikal. Located in the central part of Lake Baikal, near the highest depth mark (1637 m), at an equal distance from the northern and southern ends of the lake, Olkhon has concentrated on its territory all the variety of natural landscapes of the Baikal shores.

Arrival in the" capital " of the island, the village of Khuzhir. Accommodation at the camp site(hotel on request). Walk through the village, visit the main attraction of Olkhon-the sacred cape Burhan. This is the "business card of Lake Baikal". One of the nine Shrines of Asia. Shamanka Rock (Cape Burhan)It was the most revered holy place on Lake Baikal, where sacrifices were made and vows were made since the appearance of the first shamans. The cave of the cape was considered the residence of Eugene, the owner of the island.

Day 4 / Olkhon Island

Breakfast. Excursion to the northern part of the island. On the way to Cape "Khoboy" you will see many picturesque places. One of them is the cape "Sagan - Khushun", one of the most sacred places of the island. Olkhon-protected cape "Khoboy". This place stands out among the monotonous coast with spectacular pyramid-shaped rocks, known locally as the "Three Brothers".

And finally, we reach the protected cape Khoboy. This is a sacred place, a place of strength and powerful energy.

Lunch (fish soup on a fire of fresh omul). Visit to the weather station "Uzury»

Continue the tour, we visit the cape Shunte Levy ("Rock of Love"). Here you can make a wish, and it will come true.

Return to the village of Khuzhir.

Day 5 / Olkhon Island


Free day. Optional:

Day 6 / Olkhon Island

Breakfast.Free time for a walk through the souvenir shops. You can also sunbathe on the magnificent sandy beach of Sarai Bay, which stretches for 3 km between Cape Burhan and the village. Harants, swim in the crystal clear waters of Lake Baikal.

Sunset walk on the islands of the Small Sea (25-seat motor ship). During the tour, you will learn the legends of our Sacred Lake. The guide will tell you interesting facts about Lake Baikal. It is also a great opportunity to take beautiful colorful photos of the setting sun.

Day 7 / Irkutsk

Breakfast.Transfer to the southern part of the island, to the ferry through the Olkhon Gate. Return to Irkutsk.

On the way, lunch at a roadside Buryat cafe.

Upon arrival in Irkutsk, accommodation in the city center in an economy class hotel.

Today you have the opportunity to walk around the city and get acquainted with its sights. There are about 700 historical and cultural monuments in Irkutsk.

Day 8 / Listvyanka

Breakfast. Private transfer with driver to Listvyanka village. On the way, stop at the museums of wooden architecture of Taltsy, where more than 30 examples of Siberian architecture are collected, including the Buryat yurt and the Evenki chum. The guide will tell you about the life of local residents.

In Listvyanka, on request, for an additional fee, visit the Baikal Museum, get acquainted with the Baikal fish and the famous Baikal seal - the only freshwater seal in the world.

Walk through the village, visit the port, fish and souvenir markets, art gallery, wooden church of St. Nicholas. For lunch, you will have the opportunity to try the Baikal omul. Accommodation in the hotel "Dream of Baikal".

Day 9 / Circum-Baikal Railway

Breakfast. Transfer to the ferry( ind. transfer). Ferry crossing to Lake Baikal. The beginning of the trip on the Circum-Baikal Railway. Tour of the largest open museum of railway architecture on a tourist train. Numerous tunnels, bridges, viaducts, retaining walls, galleries. Lunch on time at one of the stops. In the evening, arrive at the Irkutsk railway station. Transfer to the city center( ind. transfer). Accommodation in an economy class hotel in the city center.

Day 10

Breakfast. Private transfer to the train station/airport.
